Top Ten #1 - Book Boyfriends
Tuesday, October 03, 2017
This week for a top ten list I am going to use the topic from Top Ten Tuesday again. (It is again, but my 3 year old managed to delete my post from last week.) It is actually a theme I was going to do on my own, so I might as well participate while I am at it!
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly event hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week a theme is given that you compose , you guessed it, a top ten list for.
This week's list theme is:
Top Ten Book Boyfriends/Girlfriends
I was thinking about this topic and decided I am going to split the list. I am going to do my favorite book boyfriends, and then my most undesirable book boyfriends.
(Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead)
If I had to pick only one fella for this list. Dimitri would be it. We actually have an ongoing relationship and we like to revisit our old adventures from time to time. His Russian cowboy, badass self and the perfect things he says at the perfect times can make any girl's heart swoon.
"Because sometimes, a person can get so caught up in the details that they miss the whole. It's not just the dress or the hair. It's you. You're beautiful. So beautiful, it hurts me."

(With Everything I Am by Kristen Ashley)
I don't usually go for the werewolves, but Callum is a game changer. Everything about him is utterly dreamy. From his slight accent to his sweet gestures, I was crushing hard throughout the entire book and I still am.
"Every day, I would wake up and think you were perfect and every night I'd go to sleep thinking that, somehow, during the day, you got even more perfect."

(Nuts by Alice Clayton)
Leo is possibly the sweetest guy in the entire world, and when you add how he is with his daughter. Holy Smokes. oh, and guess what else? He has an amazing since of humor. I am sure now you can understand why he made the list, eh?
"And he kissed me . . . slow. Agonizingly, maddeningly, painfully slow"

(A Court of Rose and Thorns series by Sarah J. Maas)
I was so upset when Rhysand took over the hero spot in the series, but little did I know how much I would love him very shortly there after. He is sweet, smart, funny, and so courageous. He is such a selfless leader, and amazing on the battlefield. I don't think he could get any better.
“I would have waited five hundred more years for you. A thousand years. And if this was all the time we were allowed to have... the wait was worth it.”
(Mister Romance by Leisa Rayven)
Another guy that really just has to be on the list, because you can't forget a guy who gets paid to be the most romantic guy to ever walk this earth. Max is man of mystery and master swoon creator. I wish he could come to life and give my dear husband a few tips and ideas. (I wish I was kidding, but the hubs has zero skills in romantic.)
“Wait,” I say, gobsmacked. “You think I’m going to fall in love with you?”
“No.” He takes a sip of wine and smiles. “I know it.”

(This Man by Jodi Ellen Malpas)
I know Jesse Ward has a lot of fans out there, but I am not one of them. I really couldn't stand him. I found him to be controlling to the point I was disgusted with the idea of Ava wanting to be with him. I hated him, I was really hoping it'd change, but nope. Not my type of guy.

Ryle Kincaid
(It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover)
Ryle was such good book boyfriend material at first, and it only went downhill. I liked him so much I was still rooting for him to change throughout the entire book. Unfortunately blacking out and being physically abusive makes you undesirable pretty friggin' fast.

Deuce west
(Undeniable by Madeline Sheehan)
Duece was so a creepy jerk. I mean he was a grown a** man making out and feeling up a sixteen year old. Then being such a swell guy, he kept screwing another girl every time he was mad at the girl he "loved?" I'll pass. I tried to like Deuce as so many people like this book, but it is not my cup of tea, and this is a guy I can not get on board with.

Hawk Delgado
(Mystery Man by Kristen Ashley)
Hawk. Creeper extraordinaire. Once again, another character many people love and I just couldn't like. What kind of guy doesn't tell a girl his name, and breaks into her house at night to sleep with her? I mean really? Then you suddenly bust into her life and take control? Gross.

Christian Grey
(Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James)
There is a huge difference between alpha male sexy control and just a-hole over controlling. Mr. Grey is the later. I just couldn't get on his fan train, because the entire time I kept thinking, "Whole, hold on there buddy." I get he has issues because of his past, but I just can't find this type of character attractive.

I see lots of bloggers/readers talking about Rhysand. I've not met him, nor ANY of Sarah's heroes since I've yet to read a Sarah J. Maas book. :)
ReplyDeleteI hadn't either until the beginning of this summer, and I read all of her books that were out after that. They are great!
DeleteI confess i met any of your book boyfriends. Sigh. My Top Literary Crushes, reprise
ReplyDeleteI mean I haven't met any of them. Bad typing.
DeleteI like how you included undesirables on your list...and I so agree about Christian Grey.

I tend to want to add to any and every list! ;)
DeleteI love how you went half and half on this one, nice choice.
ReplyDeleteAt first, I wasn't sure if I was going to like Dimitri from the Vampire Academy series or not. Alpha males are not my thing, but he really grew on me. Ended up liking him way too much. Hahaha.
Ugh re: Christian Grey. Just from the snippets I've read, I do not understand how any of what he does is romantic.
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.
I never made it through the first Grey book. I'm not big on erotica type books to begin with, but he was seriously a stalker on top of the over the top controlling!
DeleteSo many new, but potential book boyfriends on your list. I love that you spit this list between the good and bad because sometimes you come across some questionable love interests in books.
ReplyDeleteRhysand is a dream~!!!
ReplyDeleteHere is our TTT
I have seen Rhysand in many lists, so hopefully I'll meet him soon too :)
